ON ORIGINS
(Extracts of a photographic corpus in progress)

My emotions are on a rollercoaster ride, between expansion and confinement. The feeling of balance felt since the fall of 2020, following the discovery of my biological origins, and the feeling of imbalance, with each new discovery of a part of myself. An oscillation between renewed certainty about my past and readjustment of my expectations for the present. Isn’t a person made of his memories of the past and his imaginations about the real ?

Photography is linked to memory and the territory is only memory.

With the disappearance of part of the most legible idea of the face, this character, in this case myself, at different ages, is lost in the successive layers, like so many folds on oneself, of territories to which I was exposed. This leads to something that makes me think that these photographs are similar to veins : blood vessels leading to the heart... latent angles of memories, traces of the passages of memories, both visible and invisible, precise or diffuse.

Pasting, concealing, layering. These moments of visions, crossed on the thread of my existence, are added one to the other and acquire the force of a blind impulse of automatism, according to the inspiration at the mercy of the uncertainty. I feel more comfortable not knowing what I am doing. I enter the intimacy of my biological past which has become partly accessible. I discover my DNA, the belonging to this microscopic formula "ACTG", the one that establishes the territory in me, that positions me in it.

From the small molecule of DNA (ACTG), to the human, then to the worlds in evolution, we will spend our future to learn and to interpret.
